NO MATTER WATT 🎭
A long, messy, beautiful journey through recovery, community, and hope.
🌟 The No Matter Watt Trilogy 🌟
Three connected musicals. One evolving story of recovery, community, and hope.
The No Matter Watt Trilogy follows a community of imperfect, lovable characters across three stages of life — past, present, and future — as they wrestle with self-destruction, synchronicity, and the search for meaning. Each musical stands on its own, but together they form one arc: from chaos, to connection, to compassion.
No Matter Watt (2021) — The Original
In the first story, a man on the edge of his life spirals toward self-destruction. Set in an after-hours Los Angeles, he collides with a ragtag recovery circle of misfits, sponsors, skeptics, and surprise “angels” who refuse to give up on him. Through music, dark humor, and devastating honesty, he’s forced to ask a terrifying question:
What if the universe isn’t against me… it’s trying to reach me?
“Memorable, emotional, and uplifting… a heartfelt musical with a powerful message about recovery and compassion.”
— Fringe reviewer, 2021
Shubopdubayhad (2022) — The Prequel
Set years earlier, Shubopdubayhad rewinds to a younger, louder chaos. We meet the circle in their early recovery: Bumdinger, Our Lady of Perpetual Disappointment, Hope, Annabelle, and the rest, all stumbling through secrets, shame, and improbable friendship. They’re messy, funny, and often wrong — but they’re learning how to stay in the room and show up for each other. The prequel reveals the roots of the relationships, wounds, and miracles that echo through the trilogy.
“Heartfelt, inspiring, and so truthful… a wonderfully honest musical about recovery and second chances.”
— Fringe reviewer, 2022
No Matter Watt: Silver (2024) — The Sequel
Years later, the world thinks everyone is “fine” now — but inside, the journey isn’t over. In No Matter Watt: Silver, the familiar community faces new losses, new temptations, and the quiet danger of complacency. A once-wrecked character now finds themself in a reluctant guardian-angel role, trying to keep other people’s lights on while their own flickers. Silver closes the trilogy with a blend of raw honesty, absurdity, and heart, reminding us there’s no straight line out of darkness — only progress.
“Zany, heart-touching, fiercely sincere, and surprisingly funny… a deeply relatable portrait of people working recovery in real time.”
— Fringe reviewers, 2024
Why the Trilogy Matters
Taken together, these three shows aren’t just about meetings and steps — they’re about people trying, failing, laughing, and loving their way toward a life they almost gave up on. The No Matter Watt Trilogy is about ordinary people seeing each other in clumsy, beautiful ways, and about a light that refuses to go out, no matter watt.
